Kent Non-Profits
The mission of Communities In Schools of Kent (CISK) is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.  Even though school buildings are closed, CISK is working closely with Kent School District and other community partners to provide academic support, food, clothes, and supplies to students and families through the COVID-19 pandemic.  For more information and to make a direct donation, visit our website at www.kent.ciswa.org.
Since 1980, Domestic Abuse Women’s Network (DAWN) supports, empowers, and shelters domestic violence survivors and their children. Abuse thrives in isolation and DAWN has seen an increase in calls to our 24hr crisis line, with a 22% increase in our legal advocacy services alone. DAWN continues to provide help and hope to survivors in need during these challenging times.
Glover EmpowerMentoring (GEM) endeavors to "Inform, Interact, and Inspire" youth and young adults through effective mentoring and case management. GEM is providing rental support, food security, healthcare, and childcare to our clients, families, and community who have been affected first and hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kent Schools Foundation seeks to engage with families, educators, businesses and the broader community to fund innovative and supportive learning opportunities for every student in the Kent School District.  During the pandemic Kent Schools Foundation is joining with other Kent Organizations to make a difference for the community.

Kent Youth and Family Services (KYFS) promotes healthy development of children, youth and families in South King County by providing professional counseling, education and support services. KYFS continues to serve youth and families in South King County by providing remote mental health services, learning, and case management; continued services in transitional housing, commercially sexually exploited children prevention and case management, and homelessness prevention. We have extended our services during this time of crisis through support of meal provision for youth and families, emergency funds for families in need, and resource support for the community.

Living Well Kent is a community-driven collaborative focused on creating a healthier, equitable sustainable community for low-income people of color including seniors, individuals with disabilities, and immigrant and refugee families with small children. We strive to give our community better access to healthcare, healthy food, Early Childhood Education and Youth mentorship. During the public health crisis, Living Well Kent is stretching its resources to meet the immediate needs of our community, for food and other essentials such as diapers and cleaning supplies.
The YMCA of Greater Seattle’s mission is building a community where all people, especially the young, are encouraged to develop their fullest potential in mind, body and spirit. Although the Kent branch is closed to members, we’re offering free childcare to first responders, medical staff and police. We also serve as one of several United Way/Kent School District meal distribution sites, averaging about 1100 meals distributed weekly.
World Relief's vision is to see every local refugee and immigrant welcomed by community, rooted in community and empowered for community.  World Relief is seeing a dramatic increase in refugee families losing their jobs, unable to make rent payments and struggling to have enough food during this pandemic. World Relief is continuing to secure stable housing for newly-arrived refugees, deliver food to families who don't have enough, assist workers in applying for unemployment and searching for new jobs, and ensuring that no refugee family falls through the cracks of this crisis.
Since 2011, Redeeming Soles has distributed over 400,000 pairs of shoes to organizations and individuals in the Puget Sound area, including Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission, Mary’s Place, St. Francis House, DAWN, Downtown Emergency Service Center (DESC), YWCA, and United Way of King County resource exchanges.  Their mission is to empower those in need through the provision of footwear.  When you donate a pair of slippers, your donation will go to Redeeming Soles.
